Grand Knight’s Message
No need to discuss what is obvious, yes I am late once again with the newsletter. I really do want to improve and I am working towards that goal.
Now for more important issues. It is time to wish each and everyone of you Happy Valentines Day.
Well the Season of lent starts early on the Calendar this year. Ash Wednesday will be on February 22nd and that of course is the beginning of Lent. In light of this, The Knights will be hosting a planned five out of six Fridays of Lent. Come enjoy a great meal and help out where and when you can.
Last month the Odd numbered month’s team served the pancake breakfast. I especially want to thank SK John Hogg for assisting me in getting everything to Fr. D’Arco Hall and back to the Council Hall at completion. Others that pitched in and did a super job are none other than: Jim Lewis, Garold Hohmann, Bernard Ela, Geoff Stamp, Terry Byrne, Sam Soros, Larry Weaver, Marty Cantu, Art Moreno, Ron Porath, Quinn Yaeger 9grandson of Ron Porath),Dan Breaux and Roy Jessee. As they say, many hands make for light work and with all of the for mentioned great help it did make for light work. I also want to thank my wife Lily Hilger as well, she stayed behind to help clean up and put things back in the Council Hall plus she was a huge assistant at preparing the Strawberry Topping for the pancakes.
Brothers Geoff Stamp, John Hogg and Bernard Ela were also instrumental in hosting the Basketball Free Throw Event. The turnout was low but their enthusiasm was not. Thanks guys for your efforts.
Before I leave I want to plant a seed. (Just a figure of speech) But I do want you to start thinking towards the upcoming “Tootsie Roll Drive” it is in our very near future and plans are already underway. This Year’s Chairman will be SK Marty Cantu with his co-chair of Geoff Stamp. Please plan on assisting in this worthwhile fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Rio Rancho.
The last thing on my mind is that this year is going mighty fast. Before you know it, it will be election time for new officers. It is not too early to think about who you would like to represent you. I have asked SK Roy Jesse to head up the nominating committee and told him to select who he would like to serve with him. As I stated earlier, give this some careful thought, your council needs you too.
